LIGHTING NOTES

All the lighting is energy-efficient LED lighting and running costs are minimal.

We own the lights,
but cannot install
them permanently
due to tree growth issues and liability problems.

The cost of installation by pro-contactor BPA includes £10 million of public liability insurance.

In 2009, with the help of Cllr. Chris Knight, we secured a £1000 Camden LAF grant towards the cost of wring the heritage lamps.

The 2009 Christmas Lights Campaign

The big appeal for Xmas 2009, successfully extended and enhanced the lighting and the Village Christmas. The lights are planned to stay up until British Summer Time arrives, as they enliven the dark evenings.

The History

In 2008, Angela King of Heywoods and I, Robert Follis, arranged for new lights on the 3 large trees in Belsize Terrace and for the main tree opposite the Late Store to be lit using the existing set. The lighting was a big success and ran through February 2009, a benefit for all residents, traders and visitors to the village, brightening up the gloom of the winter.

In 2009 we have repeated and extended the lighting to look even better and last longer. The main tree now has a full set of top lights and we have added the two heritage lamposts.

The lights are up and we have personally paid the money. We now need to raise approx. £1800 from local traders and residents.

Most village traders are contributing, as are some of the offices and local individuasl. We plan to make the lights an annual event.

Anything you are able to donate would be much appreciated!

Angela King is a director of Heywoods Estate Agents, lives in Belsize Park Gardens and has been selling property in the area since 1992. In between she plays polo, drinks in XOand helps old ladies across the road.
