According to historical stories, Belsize developer Daniel Tidey was the first landlord of the old Belsize Tavern (formerly the Henry VIII) apparently around late 1850's. Tidey went bankrupt in 1869 and died in the Belsize Tavern a few years later.

Comment: Now an excellent if expensive restaurant. Menu does not change very often. Stupidly, non-relaxed noisy bar, mainly due to loud music played by staff who think they're running a nightclub.
